Bowie, Tom Waits and Green Day DVDs
Three music documentaries/videos are due for release over the next several weeks, including "David Bowie Under Review 1976-79: The Berlin Trilogy." Here's a synopsis from the studio, MVD:
"David Bowie Under Review 1976 - 1979 The Berlin Trilogy features live and studio performances by Bowie, rare interviews and a host of other features all interspersed with the independent review and criticism from a panel of esteemed experts. These include; former members of both Neu! And Cluster (and key Bowie influences), Dieter Moebius and Michael Rother; broadcaster, journalist and ambient author, Mark Prendergast; author and Melody Maker/Mojo journalist, David Stubbs; Journalist and author Daryl Easlea; style aficionado, Paolo Hewitt and many others."
Release date is Nov. 21, the same day MVD releases a 90-minute film called "Tom Waits Under Review: 1971-82."
"The program charts his rise from bar-room crooner to the extraordinary performer, songwriter and vocalist he had become by the early part of the 1980s. Showing also how he developed as a scintillating raconteur, how he was more than willing to draw on a vast range of unorthodox influences and how his records progressed in sophistication exponentially during the course of a decade, this film is the most detailed, enlightening and downright entertaining film ever to have emerged on this legendary artist."
Other upcoming releases: "Nirvana: In Utero" (due Nov. 21) and "Green Day Under Review: 1995-2000 -- The Middle Years," due in January.
