Garth's set lists: Good or bad?

Via the firm that does publicity for Garth Brooks, we've been asked not to run a setlist with each of the reviews for the remaining five shows at Sprint Center. Why? Because fans have been complaining.

However, we have received hundreds of responses to the five shows reviewed so far and not one person has complained that a set list was giving away details about an upcoming show.

We've run setlists with our reviews for years. And we publish them so the fans who were there will have a record of what they heard and also so fans who couldn't make it will know what they missed -- not to give away surprises.

Fan Web sites run them, too, like PlanetGarth, which posted a copy of the Nov. 8 set list (above) and where, several fans posted the set list from Monday night.

The second night, Garth did specifically say that he was changing up the set list because it was posted.

Personally, I enjoied knowing what to expect. I did find myself a little disappointed when he didn't play American Pie.

DMB posts his setlist live, as it happens. Van Halen setlists are all over the Web; we knew what they were going to play before they came here. Didn't ruin anything.

I did kinda wish that he would shuffle his setlist for each of the 9 shows so each crowd could get something special like Dave Matthews does.

But I dont see a problem with posting a set list. There were a few songs I couldnt remember the name of until i read the set list

I don't understand why it matters now. There have been 4 setlists posted all over the internet already. Yes, there has been a little variation every night but for the most part it has been the same.

I totally agree with the setlist idea. I am also amazed a the number of DMB fans that are also talking about Garth. I love to get on the website (DMB) and read the setlists each night of the summer concert. It gets you more excited about the concerts that you are able to go to.
I don't see a problem with the setlist being online. I was at the show Monday night, and seeing the setlist online won't even prepare you for the fun that comes in the event itself...

I don't mind the list being public in the least; in fact, it got me even more excited to go to the show! But it seemed to irk Garth, which is probably the real reason for the request, because he said Wed. he has even more influences than published about the Mon. acoustic encore. For all he's done for the fans and business people of KC, it's a fine gesture to respect his wishes, but I can't quite figure out why it bothered him. Same show 9 times would still be wildly received here. We'll take Garth ANY way we can get him!

I love the setlists! I can never remember the songs exactly and always save the reviews of the shows I've been to.

And Bruce Springsteen's website posts his setlist after every concert---a scan of his handwritten one! Pretty cool!

If there are Garth-fan websites posting the setlists, why does the KC Star feel the need to? Instead of posting the whole set in the order it was played, just mention the songs in the review paragraphs as you describe each show. It's not like we're talking about a Pink Floyd reunion here. Besides in a few more days nobody will care.

Wednesday was blow me away awesome. I was sad that he didnt play some of the stuff the other nights that he played on wednesday. It was interesting to go back to the playlists and see what was really different. When you are there you are so in awe of Garth you don't really care. Everyone needs to remember that our KC concerts of 9 is a little different than a regular tour. I am just glad he choose KC to grace us with his presence. I would love to have tickets for the 14th. It has been an awesome week that will never be forgotten.

Flew in from Chicago to see Garth on Saturday night. Was happy with the songs but disappointed that he and Trisha didn't do any duets that night. Overall a great show though. He's a bit tamer now but the voice was great!!!!!

I think that the set list should be posted. Why would an artist or songwriter NOT want their song(s) printed in the paper day after day? Exposure & publicity - that is the name of the game.
Not an issue, get over it & be thankful to have to opportunity to attend a show. If you do not want to know the set list, don't read it. DUH...

This was my first time in attendance of the concert my husbands third time. The concert was great, more than I ever expected. The only disappointment was how long it took between set changes. The ending of the show with the medley was the best...I guess I have never heard him sing acoustic and WOW simply amazing. Hope he decides to do this again and again and again ... Long time fans who would drop everything to meet the man...even our sons name is Garth.
