Bid on Police VIP tickets

CopsThe timing of this seems off; you'd think anyone who would spill big bucks for Police tickets at Sprint Center on May 13 would alread be holding them. Anyway, here's the announcement (right now the current bid for two seats is $600):

The Police, for their upcoming North American & European tour, have decided to use the front row seats and VIP access on their tour to do some major fundraising for poverty.

The only way for the general public to get front-row tickets is to bid on them at charityfolks, an online charity auction site. They are also auctioning off VIP Packages that include soundcheck and backstage passes not typically available to the general public either.

The Police’s charity of choice Unitus, which creates solutions for global poverty, will benefit from the sales. Bidding for the Kansas City/Sprint Center date ends at 5 p.m. Wednesday (May 7th).

Comments

Nice to see that Sting and the boys are doing their best to help out those needy folks that are blowing all their dough on tickets for their shows.

I know there are a few higher-priced acts out there, but these are the costliest tickets I've ever purchased for a rock and roll show.

Perhaps in addition to the megabucks auctions, the band might really want to show their commitment by donating...I don't know...5 percent?...of the ticket price to this worthy cause. Or better yet, talk Ticketmaster into charging only a 5% extortion fee and donate the difference.

In case anyone cares, winning bid was $700. Wasn't me.

... That's about $6 a minute, way beyond my means.
