I'm entertained by both of those artists but Crosstown Station or a Junior High gym would probably be sufficient.

Jeff

So they will actually cancel a show due to slow ticket sales?? Seems like they would try moving it to a smaller venue first.

Tim Finn

it's an AEG show. the midland is their small venue.

Scott

Uptown would have been nice or one of the casinos, midland way to big. So whats the count now for canceled shows this year, anyone.

Not that it matters much but I think you can throw a LeAnn Rimes show (Crossroads?)in there as well. Blue Oyster Cult also cancelled (but since rescheduled) when Buck Dharma injured himself back in January.

Wes

I don't understand why Miley cancelled on account of a sore throat, it's not like she actually sings live anyway.

Tim Finn

some of those were postponed, not canceled.

"Don't you never say an unkind word about the Time! Me and Silent Bob modeled our whole f@$&ing lives around Morris Day and Jerome. I'm a smooth pimp who loves the p^#(y. And Tubby here is my black man servant. What?"

:D

Bubba

Wasn't TEENA MARIE supposed to open for RICK JAMES when he was slated to perform at Municiple Auditorium a few years ago? I know that RICK JAMES died around then but I've always sort of liked his music.

MORRIS DAY is a lost cause, anymore.

Geordan

I agree that this show would have been perfect at The Ameristar or Voodoo Lounge. Speaking of canceled shows, I had Front Row Center seats for Jimmy Fallon at the Ameristar last month (don't ask me why) and THAT show was canceled. Oddly, it was scheduled for a Saturday night and the show was canceled due to "illness." It was odd, because Jimmy looked fine on his show the night before and then was sparring with UFC hopeful, Kimbo Slice on Monday's show, after the weekend.

In addition to Springsteen and Aerosmith tickets, I also had tickets for The Church show at the Voodoo Lounge a few months back, which was canceled because the band didn't feel we were important enough to play to as they would have had to drive from Denver, do the gig, and then be in Chicago the next day. Denver and Chicago got their shows, KC was scrapped. Perhaps we have been cursed, because in all of my years of seeing live music, I have never seen so many cancellations in a single year.

tim finn

forgot about that church show

Randall

Tickets for this show were way too expensive. I'd love to see Morris Day and the Time again, but I remained on the fence because of the cost. I think they priced themselves out of strong ticket sales.

It does seem like too many shows are getting scrapped or rescheduled lately--whatever the circumstances, I was very disappointed about the Church and Springsteen.

Bewlay

Springsteen was just here. People think have to see Springsteen like they need to buy Starbucks everyday. "Wah wah," says the relapsing snarker.

Chubby

Adrian Belew and Ray Price

Rick

Pennywise and Pepper also canceled. The got snowed in

This city is a music joke, after what hapeened this year to shows I will not buy another concert ticket. Ticketmaster keeps screwing me with the charges I do not get back. I have seen my last event at Sprint Center. SEE YA!

Scott

Postponed / Canceled ... 15 thought up so far, wow, thats high for one year.

Randall nailed it...ticket prices were way too high for this show. I love Morris Day and The Time but I'm not paying $50 a ticket for this show.

Joel

Gregory Isaacs cancelled his show at the Beamont Club in June.

Martha

Also, Ida Maria dropped off of that Perez Hilton tour.

Metalmomma

Mankvill - are you dressing up as a smooth pimp for Halloween? HAH!

pellboy

CJ Chenier also cancelled his Beaumont gig a couple of months back. I'm guessing for slow ticket sales (why the Beaumont instead of Knucklehead's I can't understand) so I wasn't too upset because I had some KKFI freebies but didn't find out until I walked up to the joint where instead of a poster/sign indicating the cancellation, all I got was a locked door.

jjskck

Reel Big Fish was, apparently, forbidden from going on at Crossroads KC due to worsening weather conditions. And Talib Kweli may as well have cancelled his show after showing up 4 hours late because--and this is from a good source--he simply didn't feel like going on.

Tim Finn

one republic backed out of the rob thomas show last night ...

Kurt

Let's see what happened with the Sprint Center shows so far this year.

Aerosmith cancelled entire tour, so KC is not alone.

Miley Cyrus rescheduled her show two weeks later and played show. There were probably a few other cities rescheduled in addition to KC.

AC/DC show was postponed and promises to be rescheduled. Five cities in addition to KC were postponed. AC/DC was here in 01/09,so maybe not enough tickets were sold for 10/08 show.

Bruce Springsteen was cancelled, due to a tragedy of one of his family and tour members. Bruce was here in 08/08, so maybe 10/09 show did not sell enough tickets either. His 2009 tour has only ten more shows, so it could be rescheduled I would think.

I don't think that it's as bad as some have said, but a lot of smaller shows were cancelled though. Tickets are more expensive, so people are choosing to go to fewer shows.

Kurt

I meant to mention that AC/DC show was in 10/09, instead of 10/08.

Rick in PV

I agree; I would have bought two tickets to this show at $50 each. I bought none starting at around $80-plus, as I recall ...
