Skipped the Black Crowes VooDoo show and opted for a trip down I-70 to a superior venue, The Pageant on Fri.. Worth the miles, got a 3-hour half acoustic / half-electric extravaganza, complete with a couple of nice covers; Dylan’s ‘Oh Sister’ and Velvet Underground’s ‘Oh! Sweet Nuthin’. And great Alejandro show Sat. Let’s get Amy Cook back here ASAP.

Good weekend for me...

Gin Blossoms @ P&L on Friday.
Alejandro @ Record Bar Sat.

Do the Gin Blossoms still cover Thin Lizzy? When we saw them at the Oklahoma State Fair they did a ripping cover of "Cowboy Song." For commercial power pop they were not bad.

Nah, they didn't do any covers that I noticed, just ran thru all their hits along with a couple or three songs that they supposedly have coming out on a new album. Cowboy Song would have been really cool, though. Certainly nothing special but they weren't too bad. I liked the twin guitar attack...they both ripped it up on a few tunes.

Caught Green Day in Phoenix, AZ. One of the best shows I've ever seen. They played just shy of three hours, with NON-STOP energy. Billy Joe is truly one of the best showmen in rock.

Saw Rush at the MN State Fair Grandstand near St. Paul on 08/27 . It was an awsome show and the 7th time seeing them live. Paid $40 including, a $2 facility fee. Other tickets were $60 and $70 dollars a piece. Got the tickets at the box office hours before the show. It looked like a sell out show. I missed Rush on 07/01 at Starlight and had chance to visit relative in Minnesota.

It was probably the best Rush show that I've seen and really liked 'Camera Eye'. Rush did entire 'Moving Pictures' album. That's 7 songs worth.
