When he presented his live version of "The Wall" in Kansas City in October, Roger Waters needed a fleet of semi-trailers and a sports arena to execute his extravagant and spectacular mission. Some tickets were as high as $200. Few of his viewers walked away feeling anything less than dazzled.

His band started when a friend redeemed a favor for local singer/songwriter Tommy Donoho.
A request for some accompaniment at a solo gig led to more friends and musicians joining the musical fray, under a variety of spurious names. The result is now Dollar Fox — Donoho, Justin Penney, Ryan Watkins, Nick Dothage and Ethan Taylor — a freewheeling band with a heavy appreciation for the Band and other cosmic-organic ensembles.

The Rock of Ages Instrument Drive is this Saturday. You can drop off new and used instruments from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Meyer Music at 119th, 10122 W. 119th St. in Overland Park, and from 2 to 6 p.m. at the School of Rock, 1315 East St. in Parkville.

Eminem, A Perfect Circle, Muse all are playing Lollapalooza the same weekend as Kanrocksas.
But Coldplay, Foo Fighters, My Morning Jacket and others will be at Lolla but not Kanrocksas.

CHICAGO — Coldplay, My Morning Jacket, Deadmau5 and A Perfect Circle will join previously reported headliners Eminem, Foo Fighters and Muse at Lollapalooza on Aug. 5-7 in Grant Park, the festival will announce Tuesday.
