Glad there was no mention here at all about Experience Hendrix until now. I was able to get 3rd row last week.
Also, $170 total for floor and lower level Van Halen. That is just ridiculous!

Jason Aldean might sell out the day it goes on sale...

Left off moe. @Liberty Hall on Sunday, Feb.12. Another blatant disregard for the jamband scene...for shame. Just kidding. ;)

Can we have a contest?
Name the STUPIDEST/LAMEST sounding band name on that list? Perusing the list, the competition is fierce.
Are bands even trying to make up cool sounding band names these days?

The Granada website has Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks playing Feb. 19. That's a nice suprise.

Sweet, didn't know about that BoH show, they must have just added it. Missed them at Knuckleheads and Roots Fest last year, but will definitely try and catch them this time.

PB, you in for that Stones tribute band show tomorrow night at Knuckleheads?
Posted by: onthemark | January 25, 2012 at 01:22 PM
Wasn't planning on it, otm but after checking out that youtube video, I just might! Not bad. Saw a Stones tribute band once, called The Blushing Brides, back in the 80s in Lockport, NY and it was a really, really good time.
Posted by: pellboy | January 25, 2012 at 03:22 PM
Holy shit...the Brides are STILL around! Got to be as old as the Stones themselves now.

I'm also hitting the Stones tribute tonight at Knuckleheads. I saw them when they were there last year and they were pretty good, albeit a little cheesy. A few of the guys are obviously wearing wigs and my friend and I thought the Ron Wood character looked more like Dana Carvey than Ron Wood. But the Jagger guy looks a bit like Mick and the Keith character had Keef's moves down and even belted out a rousing version of "Happy," which was a highlight of that show for me.
They also did an fine acoustic set featuring one of my fave Stones song, "Wild Horses," which was another bright spot from that show. There's a nice video of them doing the song at a 2010 show on YouTube. So, yeah, the 'cheese' factor is apparent, but they were a lot of fun. After watching a couple of live clips of openers, The Matt O'Ree band (from New Jersey), they might also be pretty good.
A couple of other Knuckleheads shows I'm looking forward to, besides the Glen Matlock/Hugh Cornwell show next month, is the aforementioned Joanne Shaw Taylor (missed her last time she was here), Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds in the Retro Room the night after Joanne's show (Check out some of their stuff on Youtube-their singer, Arleigh Kincheloe, AKA Sister Sparrow, is a knockout-how they will fit the dozen or so members of the band in the Retro Lounge will be tricky, though) and the eternally cool Southern Culture On The Skids, on Friday, May 25th.

PB and Geordan, I will be at the show tonight. I figure a $10 ticket for a couple of hours of live music is a good deal, plus I will know all of the songs! This is likely as close to seeing the Stones as I am going to get from now on.
I am wearing my old 'Grand Emporium' shirt today, if you see me be sure and say howdy!
I saw Sister Sparrow last year at the Trouser Mouse. Your assessment of their singer Arleigh is very accurate.

Wow, thanks for that tip on Sister Sparrow, I'm definitely there! And yes after viewing their videos I can attest that she's very easy on the eyes.

Although a little under the weather, I went to that Rolling Stones tribute at Knuckleheads last night and it was even better than their last trip here in KC. It was also a pleasure meeting 'ontheMark' last night. A very cool guy, indeed. Although not packed, a pretty good crowd turned up and openers, the Matt O'Ree Band, played a LOUD set that lasted just over an hour. The band turned up in a huge tour bus and brought their own lights, a couple of crew guys, and even a smoke machine (which produced more fog than smoke). You would have thought that they were the headliners. A few of their songs turned into some nice jams with a real Classic Rock feel. Matt can play some guitar (he had a cool Marshall Amp) and their keyboard player was just awesome.
The Stones guys were a lot of fun also. They kind of have a revolving cast and only Mick & Keith were back this year with a new rhythm section and lead guitarist. I said hello to 'Mick' before the show and he greeted me with a Jaggeresque accent, although the guy is probably from Wisconsin or wherever. Method acting at it's finest. Anyway, they played for an hour and 45 minutes and gave us some fine Stones classics, including an unexpected acoustic version of "Loving Cup" from "Exile On Main Street" that was damn good. Also, there was a gorgeous gal named Julie that I couldn't take my eyes off of on the dance floor, and she ended up on stage and sang backup on several songs. I paid 12 bucks at the door and it was a steal for such a fun night of music.....and again, it was cool meeting you, OTM!

Good show last night. And nice to meet you as well Geordan!
