Several celebrities have participated in some Literary Death Matches, like author Chuck Palahniuk (“Fight Club”), who judged one in Austin, Texas, recently. The third Kansas City version of Literary Death Match is Tuesday at the Firefly Lounge, 4118 Pennsylvania. Doors open at 7 p.m. The event starts at 8:15 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.

The Literary Death Match was conceived in New York almost six years ago by writers tired of the same-old at public readings.

Martina McBride will open at 7:30 p.m. All tickets from the Feb. 25 show at the Sprint Center will be honored at the rescheduled show. Country singer George Strait postponed his concert at the Sprint Center on Saturday night, telling his crowd of about 18,000 that he was too sick to go on. About 9:15 p.m,. as the P.A. system played "Deep in the Heart of Texas," Strait took the stage and strapped on his guitar. He then sang "Here for a Good Time," though clearly he was not.
