How can comedians justify charging $40 or more to see them at large venues? I could understand charging that much for a tour of small clubs, but most bands don't even charge that much and they've got more mouths to feed.

I'm with you, LMF, one of the main reasons why I rarely attend comedy concerts. Another issue I have, on top of the high prices many of those shows barely exceed an hour in length. I will say I've never laughed harder in my life than at a Rodney Dangerfield show @ The Midland years and years ago, but I generally want more bang for my buck.

Geordan

Speaking of comedians, I wanted to see Jim Gaffigan at The Midland, but it's the same night as Joanne Shaw Taylor at Knuckleheads (3/22)....so maybe next time, Jim.

pellboy

Yeah, was planning on that Joanne Shaw Taylor show as I've never seen her, but now just announced the night before @ Knuckleheads...Dan Baird & Homemade Sin (which usually features Warner Hodges on guitar)! Can't miss that. Knucks website says nothing about Warner, but in looking at the Scorchers tourdates, nothing really happening at that time so who knows? Anyway, great week down there with Sister Sparrow (who I'm dying to see) the night following JST.

I don't know if Tim Finn's article from last year had anything to do with it, but The Granada is now starting their shows early and on time. They used to be pretty bad about saying they'd start at an early time but not starting until 10 but it looks like those days are gone. I didn't like it at first, but on a weeknight it's actually pretty nice.

Geordan

Just saw on Knuckleheads website that they confirmed the 5/8 (a Tuesday) date for Wishbone Ash. It's an release party for their latest album, ELEGANT STEALTH, which they mentioned was coming up during last year's show, which, as mentioned a few times here, was REALLY good. Looking forward to this show.

NEW

While this is not a live show, I urge you guys to check out this week's World Cafe. The entire hour consists of an interview and live performance by Nils Lofgren. Definitely worth a listen.

pellboy

Thanks for that info, NEW, love me some Nils Lofgren. And also appreciate the Ash confirmation, Geordan, I will be there for sure.

Big Joe

Starlight's ticketing system SUCKS. It's 9:23 and I am still being blocked from their page.
