The artist known as Gotya (GO-tee-ay) will headline Buzz Under the Stars 2, Sept. 14, a Friday, at Berkley Riverfront Park. Also on the bill: Chairlift and Zammuto.Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. June 8.
With who and who ... they could have this at a much smaller venue or is Gotye that popular? I could see this a perfect fit for Crossroads.

gotye seems to be blowing up and while not offensive, i don't see what all the fuss is about. pretty sure I heard these tunes in the mid 80's, just less production values.

Too bad it seems all of the good band names are already taken. Seemsl like groups these days throw a dart at a dictionary, or pick a (presolved)word jumble and dar de dar dats it.
TRhey say "what should we call our selves? they look around the area and duuurrr....my morning jacket... derp... sleigh bells ...durrrr
chair lift.... dar de dar...

Never heard of Gotye until now, but today in going through some un-read emails I had gotten in the past week I found one notifying me that they/him/her/it are/is playing Red Rocks this summer. So apparently they/him/her/it ARE that popular.

To answer a few questions: the concert is at Riverfront Park because that's the venue that was chosen by 96.5 The Buzz, who's hosting the show. His promoters are the ones who selected the opening acts -- even the Buzz DJs hadn't heard of them until the show was announced. Also, "Gotye" is derived from "Gauthier," the French equivalent of his birth name, "Wouter."

I first saw Goyte when he was on Saturday Night Live earlier this year (they repeated the episode last Saturday) and like that damn catchy Foster The People song (I first saw them on SNL, as well), both songs are better live than they are on record and the videos for both are a touch annoying. Just saying that "Someone That I Used To Know" is a song you want to hate, but then it's hook creeps under your skin and you start hearing it on a loop in your skull for the next few weeks. It definitely does remind me of an 80's Pop song, as gsp mentions. I'm not curious to see Goyte live (unless the lovely Kimbra, who adds vocals to the song and has released her own album recently, should turn up) but I give Goyte respect for creating a catchy song. He'll be on some One-Hit Wonder special on VH1 in 20 years....providing they still play music on that channel.....

....ooops, it's "SOMEBODY that I used to know." Couldn't remember the title, even though I will embarrassingly hum the damn song at work until a co-worker throws a stapler or a coffee mug at me.

Thanks for explaining EMPulse and
reminding us how much the Buzz HATES KC (e.g. would not accept ads for, or support, KanRocksas last year). Thanks for reminding us that in addition to never tuning to your crappy station after that crap move on your part that we also boycot all of your crappy shows.
