Cheers

Cheers to Mr Chris Fritz, a long term concert friend to Kansas City.

CHEERS CF!!!

Would love to see this festival move to the fall, cool weather, beer and live music, ahh, please make that happen!

KC Jones

...pretty sure it needs to be right around the weekend of Lollapalooza, so that the acts playing there can come by KC either right before or right after. No way all those bands are coming to the KC area just for our little fest.

Which is unfortunate, because being surrounded by miles of concrete in the middle of July/August in Missouri is pretty much hell on Earth.

I didn't attend the last kanrocksas because of the weather. If it's an outdoor venue in KC in July and August, I'm not buying tickets until the week of the event when I have a pretty decent idea of what the temp will be like.

I love live music, but not enough to sit in direct sun in 100+ degree heat. No one is worth that.

I'm kind of the same way when it comes to shows I'm wavering on as I'll go brave the heat if I have a ticket in hand, but I like the option of bailing so I generally wait on purchase. Kanrockas is even worse as due to the higher ticket price and sheer amount of acts, you're most likely forced to attend parts of the festival when the sun and heat are at their highest point. No thanks.

Matt

I'd personally rather attend an outdoor show in the summer than one at a place like the Uptown. I've been to shows there in July and August that were hotter than any outside show (day festivals excluded) by far.

Ralph

If someone posted a long rambling rant against Crossroads KC here, and how they usually have hot as hell shows/stinky porta potties/unsatbel wood chips/etc etc, would it be off topic?

It has been a while since we had a good Hating on Crossroads KC rant. We are overdue.

Matt- Very true. I distinctly remember the Primus/ Gogol Bordello show in August at the Uptown.
That place was hell on earth. I tried even standing towards the back but the heat was still unbearable. I left halfway thru Primus.

Green

Surely there is something else in the fall Kanrocksas could piggyback on, what festivals are in the fall?

Doesn't the ACL Festival down in Austin (sort of close to KC) run sometime in September? Can still be a little warm in the early weeks but still not near as oppressive as July/August.

Matt

ACL is mid October this year and is put on by the same production company as Lolla so I don't see why they couldn't poach that lineup instead. Mid October would be the perfect time for an outdoor festival in Kansas.

I stumbled upon your blog, and I fear your creativity. You have to create so many beautiful things.

Such a great idea! I am so intimidated taking photos in restaurants, but I'd love to play! Let's see where this weekend takes me.;
