He and the E Street Band are coming to the Sprint Center on Nov. 17, a Saturday. The tour also stops in Omaha on Nov. 15. Tickets go on sale Aug. 3. His last appearance in Kansas City was at the Sprint Center in August 2008. A show in October 2009 was canceled at the last minute after his assistant road manager, who was also his cousin, was found dead in a Kanssas City hotel room.
Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuce! A good chance he will break the 4 hour barrier at this show!

I'll pass, not the same without the Big Man

Attn: Bruce fans...there is a great profile of Bruce in the current issue of The New Yorker.

It's long, but interesting. And this is going to be an EPIC show!
Posted by: kcmom | July 27, 2012 at 09:31 AM
Can't wait! I'll never miss a chance to see one of the best stage performers alive!!
Posted by: KU_Fan | July 27, 2012 at 09:37 AM
Thanks to commercial radio, I cant stand Sprngsteen or Seeger.
Posted by: Maniak Productions | July 27, 2012 at 09:39 AM
Late in the tour... shows have been getting longer with lots of material covered. He knows what happenned last time and he will reward us for our patience. I'll put the over/under on length of show at 3:25 minutes. Place your bets... No Big Man is a huge loss, but in all due respect, the Big Man's ability to blow was waning. I've heard some snippets of his nephew Jake and, quite frankly, it sounds better than the last time I saw Clarence. But make no mistake, no one will ever replace the Big Man. That's why they have a full horn section now.
Posted by: joe | July 27, 2012 at 09:40 AM
Can't freaking wait and thanks for waiting for a pay day! Might try and do the pit for the first time although I have sat 2nd and 5th row at Kemper during the old school configurations. Any experiences with that from the BtR crowd? Heard you have to get there super early and obviously alot of standing and waiting, but worth it? Alas, wife probably won't want to go along wit that idea.
Posted by: pellboy | July 27, 2012 at 09:56 AM
Oh yeah and isn't set up now where you can purchase from SC box office on FIRST day of sale?
Posted by: pellboy | July 27, 2012 at 09:57 AM
Yes, the Sprint Center box office hours are Mon-Sat 10-6 now. You don't have to wait until the next Mon with AXS ticketing.
Posted by: Kurt | July 27, 2012 at 10:04 AM
PB, the pit experience is worth it. On past tours it worked like this. Beginning around 12:00 on the day of the show, those with GA tickets can go to the east side of the Sprint Center and get a number. They will hand out numbers until appoximately 4:30 or so. Sometime after that, they will pull one of the numbers. If they handed out a total of 500 numbers and they pull number 200, then that person with # 200 is first in line. #201 in second, etc. Number 199 is 500th in line. The first 250 or so in that line get in the pit. The rest get in right behind them and are the first ones on the floor. For the last SC show, I was just out of the pit count, but ended right against the fence that bordered the pit and the rest of GA. Tremendous viewing spot. Once you get your number, you can go back to whatever you are doing that day, just be sure to be there at 4;30 to 5:00 to begin lining up in order.
Posted by: joe | July 27, 2012 at 10:09 AM
joe nailed it. I've been in the pit for one show and up against the railing for another. The waiting is the worst part, but once the show starts, you forget about how much your feet hurt!
Posted by: kcmom | July 27, 2012 at 10:44 AM
Granted no replacing the Big Man but here is something from Tour page.
For the first E Street Band tour without the Big Man, the band will be augmented by a five-piece horn section, including C’s nephew Jake Clemons and Eddie Manion on saxophones.
Bruce recently showed the Citizens of Paris what a Rock & Roll show ought to be. Unlike the 45 minute 200 euro a ticket show Madonna phoned in. Expect a Great Show and as late a night as SC will allow.
Posted by: Tom | July 27, 2012 at 10:54 AM
Does the Sprint Center have a curfew or a time when they have to cut the show off? If I remember correctly, Bruce and Co started rather late the last time around. So if they don't start until 11 PM, I'm assuming that prospect of a 3 hour show are rather slim?
Posted by: Sin City Disciple | July 27, 2012 at 10:59 AM
They started late last time because Bruce was delayed landing at the airport coming in from St. Louis. I recall there was an airshow that afternoon and the airspace was shut down. THey didn't even do a sound check for the show. As such, we got two real obscure songs to open as they were clearly doing a bit of a sound check on the fly... They opened with Riki Wants a Man of her own followed by Cynthia. Two songs from Tracks that had rarely been played.
Posted by: joe | July 27, 2012 at 11:14 AM
My bet is he starts at 8:15-8:20 and with being a Saturday night and he has no show on Sunday the concert will end at 11:45-11:50. Arrange those late night baby sitters.
Posted by: Me | July 27, 2012 at 11:39 AM
Thanks, joe and mom. That's about what I had heard, but just wanted input from somebody who had done it. Again, wife will probably balk, but even though I don't think or want it to be the case, I might play the "last time" seeing him card.
Another related question...does each ticket holder need to be present in that early Number Line or can one person just go down there with both tickets in hand?
Posted by: pellboy | July 27, 2012 at 12:02 PM
If there's anyone in the music world more overrated than Bruce Springsteen, I don't know who it would be. The Beatles, maybe?
Posted by: deathweezel | July 27, 2012 at 12:31 PM
deathweezel-Creed.
Posted by: Maniak Productions | July 27, 2012 at 12:36 PM
We stood in line all afternoon for his 2009 show and our number was drawn to be among the people in the pit. We figured we were going to be in the 2nd or 3rd row from the stage until....the show was canceled at the last minute due to his cousin's death. So you can bet we will be lining up to be in the pit again this time!!!
Posted by: KU_Fan | July 27, 2012 at 12:41 PM
The Beatles are overrated?? A co-worker said that to me a few years back and we never really talked again after that. But I know you are just here to troll. So, you also think Bruce is overrated, deathweezel? Then, WHO, pray tell, do you think is underrated? I mean, we can't all be Slipknot fans, although I take you for more of a Boy Band devotee.
Posted by: Troll Hunter | July 27, 2012 at 12:44 PM
I must also know who you think is underrated. Please.
Posted by: Gal | July 27, 2012 at 12:53 PM
At the risk of incurring anyone's wrath here....
I think Todd Rundgren is underrated.
Always have. Been following him for some 41+ years. Nearly always a great show. Changes it up often.
As far as Bruuuce goes, I know I'll have to see this show.
My pal has Alzheimers at 51, we were enroute to the show last time when it cancelled.
As he's from Jersey (and getting worse) its a show I simply have to get him to.
Posted by: corky | July 27, 2012 at 12:59 PM
Underrated: J.J. Cale, John Hiatt, Dave Alvin, George Thorogood, to name a few.
Posted by: Reacher | July 27, 2012 at 01:02 PM
This show will be right after the election. If Romney wins plan on two hours of the four being Bruce "preaching". I think I'll pass and listen to Little Stevens Underground Garage that night for some REAL Rock 'n Roll.
Bruce does many things well but telling us how to think, live and vote aren't among them.
Posted by: 913KCKKID | July 27, 2012 at 01:03 PM
2 hours of preaching? Obviously somebody that has never been to a Springsteen show, but thanks for the input.
Posted by: pellboy | July 27, 2012 at 01:11 PM
Been to 36 Springsteen shows over the past 30 years, including the filming of the Murder Incorporated video at The Stone Pony. With each passing year Bruce turns into a bigger, whinier commie lib. At least his Jersey comrade Jon Bon Jovi keeps his flaming liberal politics out of his concerts and on MSNBC and CSpan where they belong.
Last time Bruce played the SC the sound was hammered shit. I suspect it will be worse this time around.
Posted by: 913KCKKID | July 27, 2012 at 01:22 PM
Got to add Chuck Prophet to the underrated category. Same as Reacher noted, Dave Alvin as well.
As for Bruce being overrated? Ha! Got a chuckle out of that one. I figure a guy who has been making great albums for 40+ years and continues to sell out venues worldwide must be doing something right!
Posted by: onthemark | July 27, 2012 at 01:26 PM
Corky, I hope you and your friend get to the show. I agree with you on Todd. For me, one person that's underrated - Bruce Hornsby.
Posted by: Gal | July 27, 2012 at 01:31 PM
Another underrated/underappreciated... Badfinger, Big Star, Alejandro Escovedo, Bruce Robison...
Forgot about the election timing. I am as big of a Bruce fan as there is for a very long time. I do think there is something to the "too much preaching" thing that is a part of Bruce's shows now. I personally liked Bruce's more indirect political points where the person in the song was doing the talking. I thought his ability to have the characters in his songs speak to you was more powerful. But, I respect his right to do say what he thinks and I respect his opinion, although I might not agree all the time. I know that going in.
Posted by: joe | July 27, 2012 at 01:46 PM
OTM - agree with your comment about Chuck Prophet. I could have a long list of bands/musicians that are underrated. It amazes me that some people (a lot of people) have never listened to anything other than top 40/classic rock/alternative (whatever that means anymore) stations and would have no idea who we're talking about and never will. That is unfortunate. But it does guarantee me a front row at some of the shows.
Posted by: Gal | July 27, 2012 at 01:51 PM
Gal, I have to agree with your comment. I have some friends who make the exact same comment when we are talking about the music we listen to. And when we mention those bands to others, they look at us like we have 2 heads!
Posted by: onthemark | July 27, 2012 at 02:29 PM
PB - yes each ticket holder must be present with their GA ticket to get a number.
Posted by: Joe | July 27, 2012 at 02:30 PM
Ironic that somebody who supposedly doesn't want to hear any of Springsteen's political ramblings, makes a point of bringing his politics into what was a pretty innocuous thread. Only somebody with their own political agenda would even think to tie just another tour appearance into some sort of Election Day testimonial. While admittedly, he has taken a more direct approach to his leanings in recent years, the idea that that's all his shows have become is overblown, overused and downright disingenous. Your loss. He could come out in an SS uniform for all I care.
Posted by: pellboy | July 27, 2012 at 02:33 PM
Thanks, joe. Oh and for the underrated side thread, some good ones so far and I'll add Richard Thompson.
Posted by: pellboy | July 27, 2012 at 02:48 PM
And, for those who are interested in his horn section, it should be noted one of his trumpet players, Curt Ramm, is a Shawnee Mission West and JCCC graduate! Rock on Curt!!
Posted by: chiefwally | July 27, 2012 at 02:57 PM
Right on PB re: Richard Thompson. Arguably today's best living rock guitarist...
I've seen lots and I can't say I've seen anyone better.
Posted by: joe | July 27, 2012 at 03:07 PM
I saw the last show of his that actually happend. The band shows up 1.5 hours late and doesn't say anything about their extreme tardiness(more like absurd). I only recognized one song. Stayed for 2 hours and left. What a disappointment. Now that Clarence is gone...I'm still longing for the Born in the USA days on the front row at Kemper Arena and the CottonBowl. Save your money.
Posted by: jestcher | July 27, 2012 at 03:42 PM
Recognized one song? How is that possible for even the most casual of fans?
Posted by: pellboy | July 27, 2012 at 03:56 PM
Agreed PB... Sorry Jetscher, but I find that hard to believe. He was late, we know. The first two songs were only known by fans that were familiar with his Tracks set. But after that, he played numerous recognizable songs over the next hour and a half. Maybe the sound was so bad were you were at that they unrecognizable to you. Judging by most other comments about the crappy sound that night, I could buy that theory. From where I was at, the sound was good. So I couldn't complain.

913KCKID - Only bulls make more BS than you.
Posted by: JJ | July 27, 2012 at 04:18 PM
Got a question for 913KCKID: You say you have been to 3 dozen shows over the last 30 years, yet only now you realize that Bruce is liberal?
I wonder how it is possible you missed that, considering EVERY show of his I have attended over the last 30 years he has ALWAYS made a comment to the crowd that they should check out the volunteers for the local foodbanks in the lobby and if you are able to please consider making a donation?
I know that request might dismay some conservatives, but I fail to equate that with being a "bigger, whinier commie lib."
Posted by: onthemark | July 27, 2012 at 04:39 PM
For the Morons who think Bruce is a commie and he and the Beatles are overrated, I hear there is a new Boy Band out you might be interested in. These people must be trolls drinking their way through another unemployed day in front of their computer until their soap operas come on.
Posted by: Tom | July 27, 2012 at 05:03 PM
Getting this show gives some hope that Kansas City will get some more acts that have seemed to skipped KC. Acts such as, Rush, Kiss/Motley Crue, Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, Scorpions and others I may have missed.
I believe that KC will get Rush and their first tour leg is missing cities such as, Miami, Denver and Kansas City. It's not a complete tour yet.
Posted by: Kurt | July 28, 2012 at 09:01 AM
Besides Jellyfish, the number one underrated band is...wait for it.....this is not a stretch.... Cheap Trick.
Discuss.

The post is written in very a good manner and it entails much useful information for me. I am happy to find your distinguished way of writing the post. Now you make it easy for me to understand and implement the concept. Amazing stuff,Thanks so much for this! This is very useful post for me. Thank you for the post.
Posted by: Bella | July 29, 2012 at 09:47 PM
I would tend to agree w/ Cheap Trick as being underrated in a sense. While extremely popular during their heyday, they don't really get enough credit for their entire body or work or their influence on bands that followed. And outside of a few lapses over the years, the original lineup is still intact. How many bands can say that?
Check out the recent Front Row Center concert on PBS. They sounded great and nice to see Bun E. back in the fold.
Posted by: pellboy | July 30, 2012 at 07:48 AM
Thanks for the info PB!
Posted by: wadkc | July 30, 2012 at 11:57 AM
Springsteen is boring, but plenty of people are still drinking his kool-aid, especially here in KC, which is surprising considering how he dissed the city last time with no make up show.
I wont be going to this snoozer again, heck I am more excited to see "Slash LIVE FROM STOKE" finally showing on the AUD channel (DirecTV) this Saturday night, it may be just TV but it will be more interesting than snoozersteen
PS
have you ever noticed that no one ever complains about talkers at a REAL rock show? only at the boring shhhhhhhh!!!! QUIET shows.
