Slightly out of the area, but Trails West in St.Joe on 8/17 and 8/18 featuring Tower of Power, Uncle Kracker and some other acts.

Also, Paola Roots Festival on 8/24 and 8/25. Strong lineup this year w/ Paul Thorn and Los Lonely Boys among others.

Sin City Disciple

Glossary!

Matt

SCD, I'm with you on Glossary. They are criminally underrated and should really be as popular as their contemporaries in Lucero, Drive-By Truckers and the like.

I really wish that show was in KC though.

pellboy

Huh, if Glossary sounds like them, then I'm interested. Can't do Lawrence tomorrow night however, but I'll check them out on the web...thanks.

In all actuality, will probably do the...yikes...Kenny Loggins deal @ Crown Center as wife is a big fan from way back. Hopefully more early solo/L&M stuff than his crappy Hollywood output but that's probably just wishful thinking. Oh well, I'm Alright.

Matt

That's definitely who I'd compare them too. They have that alt-country, americana type sound. Maybe not as loud as either of the bands mentioned above but I think they're just as good as either of them.

I put together a mix of Glossary tunes last week of my favorite songs of theirs so these are some songs I'd personally recommend checking out:

Little Caney
Shaking Like A Flame
Time Rolling
Devil's In The Details
These City Lights Shine
At Midnight
The Rutherford County Line
Daylight Savings
Trouble Won't Last Always
When We Were Wicked
Some Eternal Spark

Sin City Disciple

According to web, Glossary is playing the Riot Room tonight as well!?!

08/24 Diverse & Friends Plays Michael Jackson at RecordBar

That was a LOT of fun when they did it last time! I was hoping that they'd do it for Halloween in Lawrence last year or this year, but the fact that they're doing it again is good enough for me.

Matt

I could probably swing by the riot room tonight, thanks SCD!

Actually, just now checked the website....how are they not headlining? http://www.theriotroom.com/event/138449/

pellboy

Just checked out some of their stuff on their website and on youtube and I like them. Wish I had known about this Riot Room show earlier, I would have checked them out if I could. Bonus, that Kelly chick is pretty hot. Anyway, thanks for the tip on Glossary, BtR.

RogerWilco

We'll be at Loggins as well. Can't beat the $5.00 entry. For better or worse, won a meet and greet off of the Crown Center folks. Never a huge fan of the solo work, but L & M were pretty good. Don't know what to say to the guy, but will try to dig out L & M Live on LP to get signed. Did have Watching The River Run played at our wedding...There's my in!

Adidas Porsche Design

I was hoping that they'd do it for Halloween in Lawrence last year or this year

you can take a look my website http://www.liveshoesonline.com

Aaron

And another Glossary fan here. Wish I could make either show, but it won't happen this time around.
Incredible band.

Aliel

These pairs is very useful. Look forward to more of your updates, Also, I made sure to bookmark your website so I can come back later.

Geordan

I know it's not in August, but I just saw Steve Forbert announced at Knuckleheads on Friday, December, 7th! I have only seen Steve once and that was at The Uptown in 1980 or '81. I loved those early albums, back when critics were calling him the "new Dylan." I lost track with his music shortly after that, but knew that he still toured. Suffice to say, I am definitely IN for this show.

Nike High Heels

Such a great idea! I am so intimidated taking photos in restaurants, but I'd love to play! Let's see where this weekend takes me.;

pellboy

Geordan, thanks for that tip on Forbert. Never seen him, but like you, was a fan back in those Jackrabbit Slim days.

Dug up this video from about 5 years ago. I'm guessing this gig will have a similar feel if no band.

Thanks for the tip Geordan and the clip Pellboy. I think I'll have to see this show.

cer

Givers and Yellow Ostrich tonight at Riot Room should be a phenomenal night. I'm told Givers put on best set at NXNW 2011. Yellow Ostrich just played Lollaplooza.

RE: Glossary...great American band. Helped them get the transmission in their van fixed a few years ago. They sent everyone who donated a great t-shirt after the fact. They should be more widely known.

Own young boy crazy, despise Kunlun, laughing Luliang; wear the sword for several years, this will test the edge. Pretentious is not desirable, but should not sell ourselves short.

Gill

Just found your wonderful blog through A Mom's Year. Love your style! I'm sick too... definitely sucks. Hope we're both feeling better fast!
