I'm surprised to see the Schwag's annual Thanksgiving show at the Uptown on that list, because I thought that their bass player recently started a short prison term.
And again, a few mildly interesting shows on the list, but nothing that I'll end up going to. It seems like the music scene in Lawrence/KC has peaks and valleys, because to me, we're definitely deep in a valley right now.

Kendrick Lamar at the Midland December 2. Sound like every other rapper, but that's just me.

Ah, decisions, decisions. Part of me wants to see the Rosie Flores/Marti Brom Roots Rock bonanza at Knuckleheads tonight, as it should be a fun (and inexpensive) show. But I'm also wanting to see the Snow Patrol/Noel Gallagher show at the Midland. As an Oasis fan, I respected Noel's role as the brains behind that operation, while his daffy brother, Liam, wandered through the band's reign whacked out of his head and missing gigs. Cut to today and Noel has a new record with his new band, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, and his Oasis-like single, "If I had A Gun" is just wonderful. "If I had a gun I'd shoot a hole into the sun and love will burn this city down for you" may be my favorite line from any song this year.
As for Snow Patrol, I can take 'em or leave 'em. Love the song "Shut Your Eyes," which I first saw on the Live Earth concert DVD a few years ago, but the new CD was just bland to my ears. I liked one of their early albums and then they more or less fell off of my radar. I'm sure they are a decent live band, but do I want to pay the higher price mainly to see Noel and hope I'll dig Snow Patrol, whom I've never seen, or check out the talented Rosie Flores and Rockabilly angel Marti Brom, who will likely throw a loose and fun Rock & Roll party down in the bottoms?? May come down to a coin toss....either way, I'm aching for some live music and will be out somewhere tonight.

Geordan, I may see you at Knuckleheads tonight!
What about Rusted Root at Knuckleheads tomorrow night? CD release party.

I couldn't make it to The Beat the other night as planned so I am starved for a good show this weekend, was thinking of Rusted Root myself.

Dammit, OTM, I was out and about this morning running errands, as I have a couple of well-earned days off (if you heard Husker Du's "New Day Rising" CD blaring from a car stereo downtown earlier, that was me), and wound up picking up a ticket for Snow Patrol & Noel Gallagher. It was just too hard to pass up on Noel Gallagher. Opener Jake Bugg, an 18 year old Folk 'Wunderkind' from the UK, who is being touted as the umpteenth coming of Dylan, also sounds interesting.
But had Noel not been involved with this show, I would be down at Knuckleheads tonight. Hate to miss Rosie and it's definitely going to be a cool show and as nice as it is outside today, the show may be outside, as may Rusted Root be tomorrow night. Not sure about that show, as I've never really heard any of their music, with the exception of "Send Me On My Way," which just works on my nerves. I'm sure there is some good stuff in their discography, though.

From my experience, Rusted Root is definitely best served live. Their studio recordings don't do much for me either but caught them once eons ago at The Beaumont and it was a fun show. Also saw their Live At Infinity Hall concert on PBS a few weeks ago and thought that was a pretty strong performance as well so might try and make it down there for this one.

Why hasn't the Taylor Swift shows on August 2-3, 2013 been announced yet? They're listed on the Sprint Center website.
So far, I'm only going to Trans-Siberian Orchestra on Dec 9th(Sun). I'm going to the 3:00 show and there's a 7:30 show also. I paid $60.50 for a lower level ticket and that includes a $2.00 venue fee. It was the second highest ticket price selling. Instead of performing Christmas Eve & other Stories again, TSO is doing The Lost Christmas Eve album. If you buy tickets online then, you get the 5 song EP 'Dreams of Fireflies(On a Christmas Night) on a download. I got it from Barnes & Noble online for only $4.74 plus tax.
Their website said that they're touring with more lights, lasers, pyro and a few surprises on deck. I've seen TSO in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and looking forward to this show.
