Too Much Rock

Sad. I would have gone to that Used show on a whim as it was three blocks from me, but not if I have to drive an hour. Those who complain about bad sound are missing the point IMHO. You know where else had bad sound? The Outhouse, the Daily Grind, The Fusebox, & El Torreon. Where were your memories made?

nickthenerd

an hour, grandma?

Sid Much Rock

An hour for The Used? Nope. 6 for Quicksand this weekend. Sure. Now sit down son and I'll tell you about when music was good.

hamster

Gotta agree with Sid on this one - there are a number of middle of the week acts that I have passed on due to them being venued in Lawrence. Some of us have jobs in the morning.

Green

I went to lawrence last night ... its no big deal

Bubba Brown

Too Much Rock, I never thought that the Outhouse in Lawrence was THAT bad for sound, but the Daily Grind was TOO darn cramped! My memories of cool live gigs were made at the Lone Star, Bottleneck, place before it became the American Pub and a few at the Grand Emporium. Bubba said it, don't forget it.

Taylor

Right on Bubba... The Lone Star was an awesome sightline venue, and a great place to get lucky. I saw many a great show there.

pellboy

I'm with Sid and hamster too. Obviously, I'll still hit a show in Lawrence that I really want to see (especially an act that doesn't come thru the area much), but I definitely have passed on many a mid-week show there just due to the incovenience of my work being located right between where I live in the east and Lawrence to the west.

KC Jones

count me amongst the numbers that will skip a mid-week Lawrence show.

Green

Midweek shows are like lil vacations!

Endtro

I agree Green, The only places in Lawrence I won't hit a mid week show at is The Jackpot or The Replay. The last week night show I went to at the jackpot didn't start till 12:30 and I didn't get back to KC until almost 3am.
