Above: Sanjaya Malakar lives to ruin another song.
There's an episode in "Seinfeld" where a parking valet leaves behind a nasty body odor in Jerry's car. Jerry to Elaine: "Can you smell that?" Elaine: "What am I -- hard of smelling?" After several failed attempts to purge the car of its odor, he ends up abandoning it.
Such is Sanjaya Malakar to this season of "American Idol": the odor that keeps returning. Apparently, several million Americans are hard of smelling
Last night the teen with the wide smile, tissue-thin voice and hair with a life of its own survived another elimination round, this time at the expense of Brandon Rogers, the professional backup singer who forgot his lyrics on Tuesday. Haley Scarnato also earned another pardon, perhaps for knowing that viewers can be suckers for two things that have nothing to do with talent: cleavage and tears. The organizers at Vote For The Worst got their way again this week. And now they've got Howard Stern behind them:
We love you, Sanjaya! The judges are running out of stuff to say because they hate him so much, which means we have to keep the awkwardness going. So this is it. People want him gone, so it's gonna be a tough week, so vote for Sanjaya for as long as you can, 2 full hours if you have the time. Just redial while you lay in bed, you'll feel good about it tomorrow when someone the judges love goes home and Sanjaya doesn't. Hopefully! So get to dialing, and welcome to all of our Howard Stern fans who joined us tonight, let's keep Sanjaya here.
it amazes me that the american public is keeping this guy on. Was there a nation wide sympathy movement for this guy or what?

You know what Brandon said to Sunjaya as he walked off stage?
"Someday ... we'll be toge-e-e-e-ther..."

Dumb giggling little teen age girls all over America calling in on their cell phone, running up Daddy's family plan minutes. Sanjaya should be removed from the show for that alone but should also be brought up on charges for repeatedly breaking serious Perma Grin Law. Maddening.

Sanjaya reminds me of Bob Dylan in his teens. America never understood him. He will make it.
