Above; Chad Kroeger is the lead singer from Nickelback, who couldn't wait for the Sprint Arena to open before playing Kansas City. Will a Canadian band be the last rock act to play Kemper?
Kemper Arena is not dead, yet. AEG is brining Nickelback to Kemper on Sept. 2, a Sunday. Also on the bill: Puddle of Mudd (sort of hometown boys) and Daughtry (making his third appearance here since April). Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster.
Also on the way:
In case you missed the official announcement at 7 a.m. today, here's the lineup for the Buzz's Beach Ball 3, which will happen in the very un-tropical City Market on Aug. 19, a Sunday: the Used, Perry Farrell's Satellite Party, the Plain White T's and Shiny Toy Guns. Tickets go on sale Saturday. Word is that Farrell will do some Jane's Addiction and Porno for Pyros tunes, which is good because brand-new Satellite Party album is roadkill baking in the sun.
ZZ Top is headlining the KY Birthday Bash (99.7 FM), also at City Market. Tickets are $30. They go on sale Friday at 5 p.m. via Ticketmaster.
Third Eye Blind is coming to the Uptown Theater on Aug. 4, which is great news for everyone dying to hear that one good song they did. Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster.
ooh...snarky. i like. :)

Why the dig at Perry Farrell's Satellite Party? I was a fan of Farrell's work in Jane's Addiction and Porno For Pyros and think that the Satellite Party disc is, to my ears anyway, the best thing he's released since 'Ritual de lo Habitual'. With the addition of Nuno Bettencourt on guitar, Perry is once involved in a band that rocks as his recent live performances on David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel, and Carson Daly's shows prove. Man, what a mean (and downright false) thing to print. For shame.......

Have you heard that album? His band may be great, but the songs stink.

I'm sorry you think so. I have the new cd and like it a lot. If you think the new songs "stink" then maybe Celine Dion is more your taste, who knows? With a world of crap constituting much of Popular Music these days, I'll take Farrell over the lion's share of it.

That's an odd sequitur: If you don't like the Perry Farrell CD you must like Celine Dion.

Ummmmm, pretty much.

That's odd. I don't like either of them. I mean, I loved Jane's Addiction, but Satellite Party is just kind of...blah. I tried hard to like it, but it didn't connect.
