The organizers of the Wakarusa Music & Camping Festival are starting to fill in the blanks. The most recent posting: Bettye LaVette, who performs on Thursday, June 5, the first day of the four-day festival. She joins Alejandro Escovedo and Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue. Last year, LaVette released "Scene of the Crime," which she recorded with help from the Drive-By Truckers.

The first summer act has been posted for the Kansas City Live District -- the nearly finished shopping/dining/entertainment hub west of Sprint Center: Country singer Billy Currington, known for this '70s-style country hit. He can also do a killer cover of "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town." He's in town on June 5.
