After several dry runs and a few soft openings, the owners of Crosstown Station, 1522 McGee, are ready to officially open their new live-music venue.
It's near the corner of 15th and McGee, just south of Sprint Center and across the street from The Star's monster production facility. The entrance is on the east side of the building, which, on the south side, has has the mural of the a dude messing with his guitar (a dorsal view, but no plumber's crack.)
Crosstown Station can hold about 300 people comfortably. It's all brick and hardwood inside and the ideal trade-up from the Grand Emporium. Good beer selection and a pizza kitchen, too. There's some parking around the venue and plenty of street parking, too (when Sprint Center isn't busy anyway).
Tonight's event is free and it features a great local act: It's Over. They'll come on somewhere between 9:30 and 10 p.m. Before that: a DJ and radio remote.
Also tonight: Dave Mason is at VooDoo Lounge. Show time is 8 p.m. We'll be at both places.
