Black Crowes coming to VooDoo

It's not posted yet at their Web site, but the show date is July 22 (Tuesday) at the VooDoo Lounge, according to their flacks:

Tickets for the majority of the shows on the first leg of their three leg tour (and other select shows) will go on sale May 2 and May 3 at 10 a.m. EST. Special “Midnight Pre-Sales” will be available at blackcrowes.com A limited number of prime seats in each venue have been set aside by the band for their fans and will go on sale at midnight EST, the Friday before the public on-sales (April 25). Fans who purchase “Midnight Pre-Sale” tickets will receive free downloads of previously unreleased live material.

Local boys get hard-earned love In some ways, Bob Lefsetz is like Simon Cowell: He doesn't fall in love too easily, and he's quick with the savage insult. So it's worth mentioning his comments when he sprinkles some love on a Kansas City band, like the Republic Tigers. I played the Paste sampler. On a lark. There were 21 tracks. Some of them were truly unlistenable. Almost none of them were good except for this one, "Buildings & Mountains," by Republic Tigers. This is not a hit on any format. It just sounds good. Like that old seventies band Charlie. It started to come out...
