Tanna Guthrie returned to the radio Monday — working for the same company she filed an age-discrimination complaint against.
Her new gig is part of an on-air shakeup at soft-rock KUDL-FM (98.1). Guthrie, a 20-year fixture at the old KYYS-FM, is KUDL’s new late-afternoon host, bumping Roger Carson to middays. Midday host Michelle Chase is apparently out.
Darcie Blake, KUDL’s longtime morning show co-host with Dan Hurst, also exited. In a statement, management said Blake had retired from radio, “resulting in a restructuring of the KUDL air staff.” She’d been with the station 28 years.
Herndon Hasty, vice president and general manager at Entercom Kansas City — owner of both KUDL and the former KYYS — did not return calls for comment.
Guthrie, her former morning co-host Max Floyd and two other DJs filed age-discrimination complaints against Entercom after their firings in January, when 99.7 KY was re-branded 99.7 The Boulevard. All are over 40. Guthrie is 51, “but I’m Botoxing my way back to 40,” she joked Monday.
Hasty had hired Guthrie at the old KY-102. “I miss radio and am glad to be back, and I love working for Herndon,” she said. “He said the complaint against Entercom didn’t matter; it’s a separate matter.”
Max Floyd called to wish her well Monday. “He said, ‘Play some Mariah Carey for me.’ ”
Guthrie, Floyd and their attorney flew to New York this spring to be interviewed for ABC’s “20/20” newsmagazine. The piece on age discrimination hasn’t aired yet.
“I’m sure I said horrible things,” Guthrie said.

No thanks. Another reason not to listen to that station.

They should change the call letters from KUDL to DULL. The only thing OLD about Max, Tanna and the really untalented Larry Moffit was their schtick which led to abysmal ratings hence the ixnay on da deejay

Is it me or is Tanna a dead ringer for Lindsay Lohan's mama???
More cowbell and more Photoshop

Tanna is as talented as they come. Nobody (female or male) is quicker with a quip or can interview someone with clever questions. It was the 10-15 song rotation that did that station in. Thanks Program Director!

When was Dan Hurst let go from the station. I was looking today and everything about him is GONE

I love dan he is such a nice person. Everytime I've talked or emailed him he has been so sweet. Did they let him go? If so that is the worst discision they could ever make. They are letting go some of the best djs. The only good thing is they have tanna and roger is still there.

I gotta get this off my chest. Dan and Darcy didn't kill KUDL, the 24/7 Christmas music that now begins around Halloween totally ruined what used to be the best radio station in KC. Whatever happened to the Holiday anticipation and the joy and wonderment it brings? It has been overshadowed by commericalism and greed.. Kids today are so over stimulated they do not know or have ever experienced the feeling of anticipation of surprise and wonderment that the Holidays used to bring. The wonderment has been dampened by the neverending holiday music that begins in October and runs nonstop for what seems an eternity. By the time Christmas is upon us, the joy and wonderment has turned to a constant ringing in Kansas Citians ears that seems to never go away. I will cherish the season when Holiday music is played as a teaser after Thanksgiving that builds joy and anticipation of the Christmas season. Bring back the Holiday music on Christmas eve from 6PM through 6PM Christmas day. KUDL, Dont be a catalyst for overspending, and overstimulation by dulling the senses of your listeners. I dont know about anyone else, but the 24/7 Christmas music that begins in October has turned me off to what used to be the best and favorite radio station for many in the Kansas City area.
PLease Entercom, ax the 24/7 HOliday music until December 24 -December 25th. Let your listeners experience and enjoy the Christmas Holiday again on their terms, don't make them choke on it.

You're right. Come back. It won't happen next year. I promise.

The KY rock n roll type of format is dead. I grew up with this classic rock bullshit at least until i discovered punk rock and other genres. IM amazed that 101 The Fox is still going in the face of Internet, Satellite radio etc.
