CMAs '08: More old hat
Country music went prime-time for three hours on Wednesday, and the industry used that spotlight to assure everyone that things may be changing slightly around its edges, but everything else is mostly status quo. Above: She's old enough to drive, but can Taylor Swift steer country music away from the ditch it's fast approaching? The big winner at this year's Country Music Association Awards show was George Strait, who has now won a record 22 CMA awards. Wednesday night, 23 years after he won his first CMA trophy, Strait, 56, won four more, including single of the year ("I Saw...

Review: Coldplay
Photos by Chris Oberholtz/The Star The biggest post-1990s band from Britain that doesn't give away its music came to Sprint Center on Thursday. And a large crowd was on hand with a loud, long and warm greeting. And though it may not know its U.S. geography ("Thank you, Kansas"), Coldplay knows its own history: That's the first time we've played this in the U.S., said lead singer Chris Martin after singing "Glass of Water." Another dead hero. Quite possibly the best trio of all time. Rock, jazz, blues you name it. Now all three of them are gone. You know there is one hell of a jam session going on somewhere.

What a shame he had to go so early. Huge influence on me. The combination of Mitch's style and Jimi's experimentation, truly made them sound like something from outer space when they hit the scene. R.I.P. Mitch :(
