I like this news. Capitol/EMI is releasing expanded versions of the first three Radiohead albums. Due date is March 24. A breakdown on the "collector's editions":
Pablo Honey: Features the original album on Disc 1 and demos, rarities, live performance recordings and a 1992 BBC Radio One session on Disc 2. The DVD adds four promotional music videos, the band’s 1993 debut “Top Of The Pops” performance and nine live recordings from their May 1994 London Astoria concert.
The Bends: Features the original album on Disc 1 and EPs with rarities and a 1994 BBC Radio session on Disc 2. The DVD adds five promotional music videos, 1995 and 1996 TV performances from “Top Of The Pops,” “Later with Jools Holland” and “2 Meter Session,” and eight filmed performances from their May 1994 London Astoria concert.
OK Computer: Features the original album on Disc 1 and EPs with rarities and live recordings and a 1997 BBC Radio One “Evening Session” performance on Disc 2. The DVD adds three promotional music videos and a May 1997 TV performance from “Later with Jools Holland.”
One more bit of good news: On April 21, Capitol/EMI will reissue 12 Radiohead EPs on 180-gram vinyl as part of the popular “From The Capitol Vaults” high-quality vinyl series.
Maybe I'll pick them up. Not too late to get into them, is it?

Such. A. Sucker. For. This. Kind. of. Stuff. Dig it.

No, it's not too late.
But consider yourself warned: I first bought a Radiohead album (I started with OK Computer) about five years ago, and I'm not sure I've had a recording of theirs out of my stereo for longer than a week since.
It could become an obsession.

Hahaha. I'll keep that in mind.

They are it.

I wonder what the band thinks of this?

Well, the band was in on all those live recordings and extras on the bonus discs. It's all good, as far as I'm concerned. I say: Bring me more.

Stupid question: Are the vinyl EP releases album-size or 7"?
My understanding is that Radiohead has a relatively large back catalogue of EP-only releases. Good to see they're finally seeing the light of day on these more traditional releases. I think they, and the Flaming Lips, are two of the greatest bands of the past 10 years.

from what i've heard, the band has nothing to do with this at all. this is just EMI being greedy ever since radiohead achieved their success releasing "in rainbows" on their own. EMI is just scraping the bottom of the barrel to find whatever bits of radiohead they have left to make a buck. desperation is a stinky cologne...

did anyone see that the Titan compilation got a stellar review on pitchfork?

The bottom of this band's B-side barrel is top shelf, compared to other bands. (And I bet they cash the checks.)

that's certainly true! it's like when i hear people talk about the best/worst beatles albums, "let it be" always comes up as the worst, but folks say that the beatles' worst work is still better than tons of other bands' best work...whatev.

Yeah, if you think Radiohead is overrated, listen to everything chronologically and see how the band develops over 15 years. You'll either take it for granted or change your mind.
The Bends slipped by w/ Fake Plastic Trees and High and Dry getting some commercial success, but the record as a whole is amazing. Every time I go into a Hyvee store, the super glowing flourescent lights remind me of the F.P.T. video.
