Her California Dreams Tour comes to the Sprint Center (?!?!) on Aug. 17, a Wednesday. Tickets go on sale at noon Feb. 19 (next Saturday). Robyn opens. Prices: $35 and $46.
This is going to be one of those deals where they'll cordon off half the arena.

Just in time for me to move away.
Posted by: J | February 07, 2011 at 02:34 PM
$46 for good seats not bad, and I like Robyn, so I will think about it.
Posted by: Steve J | February 07, 2011 at 02:37 PM
I wish robyn was headlining.
Posted by: Eric | February 07, 2011 at 02:40 PM
I'd hit it

Sprint Center does seem big for Katy, is she that popular, arena popular, ehh, i dunno, like bob said, they can always reduce the size down, wonder why she didnt go to Independence Event Center or Midland.
Posted by: Green | February 07, 2011 at 04:05 PM
BOOOOOOOOIIIIIIING!! Yep, the ticket price is actually reasonable. Beat that! THE ticket price, that is.

Tim
CAGE THE ELEPHANT not CATE THE ELEPHANT, unless it's a Pixar preview screening.

I've checked out the tour listing and it's a major tour of North America and Europe. There are some smaller venues being planned on the tour also. I'm not sure of how big of crowd she will draw and it's difficult to say.

There are a couple of things about Katy I really love.
ps
Bub,
you are a dirty old man.... too ;)

You perverts, Katy is an music artist, respect her as a person, she is not just a sexy body to be oggled at, she has talent.

Good luck trying 2 sell this out!!!!
Posted by: Nick | February 07, 2011 at 09:10 PM
lol, that is the same thing the "btr experts" said about Jimmy Buffet.

Jug Lover - hey, don't blame me! I'm JUST saying what likely a LOT of others are thinking about KATE PERRY. I just might wind up attending the show myself. I sort of like two of her songs.
Posted by: Bubba | February 08, 2011 at 02:35 AM
good grief, she plays up the sexuality! and she IS damned sexy. what are you supposed to think? artiste? superior songwriter? she's a pop act, with emphasis on the act. madonna did the same thing. katy perry breaks no new ground, just recycling sexual fantasies for a new generation.
Posted by: fiddler | February 08, 2011 at 07:11 AM
She's HUGE (ha ha), right now...why couldn't she put a big dent in the SC? I'm always shocked by the numbers other pop acts like Black Eyed Peas and Usher have put in the SC, so why not Perry? Ke$ha easily soldout the much smaller Uptown so maybe Perry's people didn't want to underestimate the venue. And won't she draw alot of younger fans?
Gee, do you think the promoters might have actually pondered the thought about how she would draw here?
Posted by: pellboy | February 08, 2011 at 08:48 AM
FYI It's $25-$45, before service charge, but you can save a lot by hitting the box office.
Posted by: Steve J | February 08, 2011 at 09:26 AM
Haha, Steve J. said "Hitting the box"

"Gee, do you think the promoters might have actually pondered the thought about how she would draw here?"
You may have a point PB One the other hand, while promoters might ponder demand on occasion, they are more prone to visions of grandeur.
Speaking of Black Eyesd Peas, what the hell was that tripe Sunday night? Is it me or are they just complete hype?

that shark is jumped.

1) For what it's worth I think Katy will sell well enough at the Sprint Center to make it worth her while. Indep Events Center might be a tad too small.
2) I'd be curious to know if we can even come close to a consensus as to which ONE band or entertainer would do well at the Super Bowl halftime show. Seems like nobody's ever happy with any of the halftime shows. I recall A LOT of people harped on The Who's performance last year which I thought was okay. Didn't U2 do alright a few years ago? My 2 cents - how about a hybrid - AC/DC with Jet(their tunes are on practically every other TV commercial) AND perhaps Grace Potter, just because.
3) I believe Glee "jumped the shark". I actually tried to watch it for the first time and thought it was painful. Everything seemed so forced which is sad because I think Jane Lynch is one of the funniest people on the planet. Heck I'd watch the worst episode of Happy Days before I'd watch Glee again.
Posted by: KevRocket | February 08, 2011 at 10:59 AM
" Heck I'd watch the worst episode of Happy Days before I'd watch Glee again."
Does that include "Joanie Loves Chiachi" Kev?
Yeah, the Who was OK. But we are talking about a band that was one of the best live bands EVER! Why do these acts like the Boss, or U2 or the Stones or Petty; acts who obviously do not need the money or fame, come out and provide a performance that is typically far inferior of their capabilities? It baffles me. Prince did well but that seems to be the exception, not the rule.
I remember prior to Springsteen's SB performance how fellow BTR blogger Joe and I thought it would be great if he just came out and did "Rosalita" for 10 minutes and walked off. Instead, he provided the most watered down performance of his career. I just don't get it. I can see the Katys and the Britneys because that is all schlock anyway. But why does any one with a shred of credibility do it?

My vote is for the Foo Fighters for half time next year.
Posted by: Sin City Disciple | February 08, 2011 at 12:26 PM
Foo Fighters would tear it up, I think it would be cool to see Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings too. Black Eyesd Peas sounded terrible, it got a little better toward the end but not much. You can see how much help they get in the studio, they are a completely different band. My guess is within the next few years we're gonna see Kid Rock and hopefully Foo Fighters.
Posted by: Green | February 08, 2011 at 12:43 PM
2014 Super Bowl to the New York City hmm ... Jay Z and Alicia Keys
Posted by: Green | February 08, 2011 at 12:46 PM
Gosh Green, I'd hate to see a no talent ass clown like Kid Rock bastardize a perfectly good Foo Fighters performance. It would be bastardized enough as it is in a SB setting. I could easily see Kid Rock doing a cheezy SB half time show by himself though. It's perfect for him. Good call!
Posted by: NEW | February 08, 2011 at 01:00 PM
Next year's Super Bowl (provided there is an NFL season) is in Indianapolis. Seems like Mellencamp would be a lock for that gig.
Posted by: onthemark | February 08, 2011 at 01:04 PM
Is it JUST me or has this particular posting of the KATE PERRY August 17 gig gotten a LOT of attention?
Posted by: Bubba | February 08, 2011 at 01:21 PM
NEW ... I wasnt saying they would play together, ahh, that would be terrible, haha! Althought the Superbowl does like pairing talent.
Posted by: Green | February 08, 2011 at 01:37 PM
This Katy Perry post certainly got a rise out of my "attention", then again, the wind blowing will get my "attention" up.... ummmmm Katy Perry, she has a pair of things I like.
But on a (non)serious note, how about having Christina Aguliera do the half time show and have Fergie sing the national anthem.
but seriously folks...
MUTHAFKA!!!! IT IS COLD AS FK OUTSIDE, I WAS PISSING ICECUBES EARLIER!!!!
Posted by: Thumper | February 08, 2011 at 06:50 PM
""Althought the Superbowl does like pairing talent""
well,
speaking of a pair and talent, maybe Katy Perry should do the half time..... wizzbang RIMSHOT
Posted by: rimshot | February 08, 2011 at 06:56 PM
Thanks Rimshot, highlight the spelling error, thats awesome, you certainly will rack up a few points for that one. Thumper get inside, its gonna be damn cold tonight.
Posted by: Green | February 08, 2011 at 08:32 PM
I did not notice the extra h, I am the king of typos, hate spelling nazi, and was only suggesting a nice pair for the SB.
ps
but if I do get ponit are they good in the star's city stiore?
Posted by: Rimshot | February 09, 2011 at 02:50 AM
NEW brought up some good points as the 12-15 (?) minutes is just not enough time for a band to really kick so we either get middling performances from legendary acts or crap like the other night.
btw, I thought Linkin Park's performance on Saturday Night Live last week was pretty good. They seem to fit the bill for the halftime show as a band w/ some current popularity that can also rock a little bit. Alas, we'll probably get Daughtry instead.
Posted by: pellboy | February 09, 2011 at 07:41 AM
Katy Perry kissed a girl and liked it! I like that song.
Posted by: Kurt | February 09, 2011 at 08:22 AM
Katy and the girl did a lot more than just kiss, but that is a whole other song, hopefully cumming soon.
Posted by: Shauenus Moore | February 09, 2011 at 08:27 AM
I think next year the SB should get Michael McDonald to sing Ya Mo Be there for 15 minutes! Then someone can attempt to Ya Mo burn the mF#$%ing thing down!
Posted by: joe | February 09, 2011 at 08:55 AM
Widespread Panic could easily lay down a 15 minute jam, as could Mars Volta, oh, my vote is for Volta, they would freak everyone out too, nothing better than scaring the hell out of rich people. You could always book Rage Against the Machine and then watch all hell break loose.
Posted by: Green | February 09, 2011 at 11:48 AM
For SB46, how about
a 4 way Head Cutting Contest. Invite Steve Vai, Eddie VanHalen, Joe Satriani and Slash.
Let em have it, winner take the whole the whole fee, no syncing, just a one upon 4 upon one upping guitar apocalypse. They could hold 5-6 prelim jams around the country (in KC FOR SURE) to get people juiced up for the main event.
Posted by: guitar apocalypse | February 09, 2011 at 09:37 PM
FYI, Ke$ha is now listed at the Midland, what happened?
Posted by: Steve J | February 10, 2011 at 04:21 AM
I did find out Robyn is not coming to KC, she's off the tour a week or two before, and Janelle Monae is now the opener.
