Cassie Taylor - 5/3, Retro Lounge @ Knuckleheads.
I first saw Cassie with that 'Girls With Guitar' combo that included our very own Samantha Fish last year and found her strange. She looked pissed off for most of that show, to the point where someone yelled out, "Smile!" It didn't work and although her songs were good, she was almost dismissive of the crowd that night. I then saw her first solo retro lounge show five or six months ago and it was a complete 180. Armed with only a Bass and a small electric Piano, Cassie entertained the packed crowd that night and was very funny and charming. I will definitely be back for tomorrow night's return show, after a March date in the retro lounge got cancelled.
.....beyond that, what a great month of shows!

May Roll Call!
In for sure for MerleJam/Chuck Mead this Friday.
Most likely...Wishbone Ash on 5/8
and Weir, Robinson & Greene Trio 5/26.
Thinking about...Grant Hart @ RecordBar 5/16 and Jesse Harris @ Replay 5/27.
Heck, actually looks like a rather light May for me.

I might go catch that Cassie Taylor show tomorrow night. I found the picture of her that ran on the screen at Knucklheads to be quite...intriguing. Doesn't hurt that Geordan gave her a thumbs up either.
Other than that, I will catch The Rainmakers and Southern Culture On The Skids, both at Knuckleheads.
My son strongly urges me to go catch Joe Pug at The Record Bar on 5/13, so that is a possibility as well.

05/16 Oriole Post before The Royals vs. Baltimore
That's kinda weird. Do they have bands at the games very often? Anyway, Oriole Post is a band that can never play enough shows to make me happy. They're far and away my favorite local band, but they never play, and when they do it's something weird like this or opening for two other bands that I don't want to see.

And how apropos that they're playing before a game with the Orioles?
They've been having these gigs before games on Wed. nights since last year as part of their Student Night promotion in an effort to get a younegr, hipper crowd out there. Happened to catch Barclay Martin Ensemble out there last year and it was pretty cool. Bands setup on a small stage at the back of the Outfield Experience. Here's the lineup (some good ones...Making Movies, Hearts, etc.) for this season.

"Other than that, I will catch The Rainmakers and Southern Culture On The Skids, both at Knuckleheads."
OTM, I like the way you think! Those are both gonna be cool shows. As for Cassie, she's tall and gorgeous, and wore some hot, sequined shorts at that last gig. She told us that she bought them just for that gig, and I thought, Well, THANK YOU, Cassie! Only thing is, she played for about an hour, broken into two sets, no less. Hopefully, she'll play a little longer tomorrow night. There is another band in the main room I've never heard of, so I might slip in there and catch a few of their songs as well.

".... in an effort to get a younegr, hipper crowd out there."
....or perhaps to get anyone out to watch the trainwreck that parades itself at The K year after year after losing season.....
