Honoring a dark tradition, in film and song
Filmmaker, musician Tony Ladesich. Tony Ladesich’s film “Two Sisters” may have found its perfect home. His award-winning 12-minute movie will be the centerpiece of the fourth annual Murder Ballad Ball, an evening of music that honors songs about love and homicide. “Two Sisters” has been screened twice in Kansas City and once in Lawrence. “I really don’t think it has had a real, proper coming-out showing in Kansas City yet,” Ladesich said. Saturday’s showing could be its grandest yet. The film is based on an ages-old Scots-Irish murder ballad originally called “The Sisters Twa.” “There are many versions of it,”...

Review: Lamb of God
Randy Blythe led headlining band Lamb of God in an ebullient, raucous performance Saturday night at the Uptown Theater. Photos by Megan True, Special to The Star A somber tribute to slain guitarist Dimebag Darrell provided a poignant moment in an otherwise incendiary concert Saturday at the Uptown Theater. The musician was shot onstage by a disgruntled fan on Dec. 8, 2004, in Columbus, Ohio. Drummer Vinnie Paul, who performed with Dimebag in Pantera and Damageplan, interrupted the performance by his current band, Hellyeah, to acknowledge the anniversary of his colleague’s slaying. “Eight years ago on this day I lost...

Wished they would have done a longer set last night at that 12/12/12 Sandy deal. All felt a little rushed to me. Mick brought the energy and from my perspective it's always cool to see the Stones but I thought their performance was just okay. Again if they could have stretched it to at least 3 or 4 songs, I think it would have played better. Oh well, as a whole, I thought it was a good show. Springsteen got things off to a rousing start and I didn't even know about the Roger Waters set going in, that killed! And love Billy Joel's Sandy-skewed version of "Miami 2017", which he also performed at the earlier telethon.

"it's always cool to see the Stones"
YUP:)
The event was lucky to have them, they have a full concert to play tonight, and the PPV on Saturday.
It was a great show last night and Paul McCartney continues to prove he is one of the greatest of all time.... that is fomr someone who thinks the Beatles were basically a fly by night band, but Paul is a BAD ASS!
Springteen is dropping, even further on my charts, he is like nails on a chalkboard.... 120% shctick/act/BS.... he is not as bad as that crap rapper who almost ruined tha concert, but he is down there.
Roger Water was surprisingly good to me..... The Who should have stayed retired long long ago.
McCartney's jam with Grohl was amazing!!
