We’ve switched to another format to streamline this blog and its format and identity with other blogs and columns on KansasCity.com. Here is our new home.
It also makes things easier for those who are interested in behind-the-scenes data and numbers. Everything else will remain the same.
We’ll try to be your source for news and opinions about the local and national music scene in the Kansas City area. Please bookmark and keep reading.
Dang, it was nice and fun while it lasted but the last wild west internet (and my favorite) blog has died.
I have tried signing up to post comments on the star, but it doesnt work.
Oh well... Thanks for the memories.
bye

I signed up but it'll never be the same. Everything is always made complicated, never the other way around.
Posted by: wadkc | February 25, 2013 at 06:38 PM
Will we have to pay to see your blog now?
Posted by: MWP | February 25, 2013 at 07:41 PM
Please state your name and address, so long trolls.
Posted by: Green | February 25, 2013 at 07:47 PM
I just hopped over to the new site... is there even a spot to post comments? Hopefully but I sure don't see it. Often I find out more info from the posts than the article. However Tim's reviews are always wonderful.
I agree with wadkc... everything seems to get more complicated. It was fun while it lasted.

"so long trolls"
Yeah, in your dream junior.
An unlimited number of email providers allowing anyone to have an unlimited number of email accounts means as long as there is an internet exists there will be trolls, but nice try.
Those rose colored glasses never work the ay they are supposed to.

... and so much for looking forward to roasting the Rushnerds after the Rush concert. DAMN IT! I HATE CHANGE, cuz it never changes and get better!
Posted by: Sam | February 25, 2013 at 08:52 PM
You can still post comments it follows the format as the rest of the Star and requires a email or social media account.
Posted by: Green | February 25, 2013 at 09:50 PM
What is the RSS feed address for the new site? I can't find it.

Thanks Endtro, and facts be known if we are not going to be posting comments anymore (the best part of BTR) the RSS headline/link feed is all we need.
Bye BTR,
it was fun while it lasted.

this news sucks balls.
Posted by: thebcman | February 26, 2013 at 09:48 PM
ah, maybe it wont be that bad.
Posted by: DT | February 27, 2013 at 12:45 AM
I must say I'm disappointed. Either too dumb to figure out or it's just not working, but was unable to post a comment in the DBT/Old 97's thread.
Posted by: pellboy | February 27, 2013 at 07:37 AM
Pellboy - Give it another shot. Worked for me. If I can figure it out, anyone can!
Posted by: Sin City Disciple | February 27, 2013 at 09:32 AM
Thanks, Sin, I'll give it a shot. Any pointers as to what I click on?
Posted by: pellboy | February 27, 2013 at 09:39 AM
I don't like that you can't see in advance whether there are any comments. Or am I missing something?
Posted by: gsp | February 27, 2013 at 09:50 AM
gps, You're not missing anything. I was the first to post on it and maybe my last!
ah, who am I kiddin'.
Posted by: wadkc | February 27, 2013 at 09:59 AM
Help me out, where is the comment tab? Is it where it says "Disqus"? For some reason, that feature isn't loading for me.
Posted by: pellboy | February 27, 2013 at 10:05 AM
Pellboy, I believe you need to sign up for an account with the KC Star. You will need to submit your phone number and home address and such.
Posted by: Kurt | February 27, 2013 at 10:10 AM
I posted on the 97's/DBT article. Under the ads after the blurb, there's a Leave Comment box. Enter your comment. If you don't have a Disqus ID, it takes all of 2 seconds to set one up (just enter your handle and email address, then you will get an email asking you to confirm and establish a PW). Otherwise you can use FB, Twitter, Google + as a way to register.

So far it does NOT appear that you need to buy a subscription to the Star to participate in BTR v2. But who knows how long that will last...
Posted by: Sin City Disciple | February 27, 2013 at 10:20 AM
Then I guess my next question is, how and where can I sign up? When I clicked on the sign-in tab at the top of the page, it seems setup for paid subscribers only.
Posted by: pellboy | February 27, 2013 at 10:31 AM
Open an article in btr, scroll down to the comments, enter comment, click the disqus link to sign up.
Posted by: gsp | February 27, 2013 at 10:37 AM
Eh, I guess it's just not working for me (at least from my work computer) as I see no comments under any of the articles and the disqus link just never loads it's page for me. Oh well.
Posted by: pellboy | February 27, 2013 at 10:43 AM
Well, I was banned from the Star's website a year or two ago, so no more backtorockville for me. I'll have to get my local music news elsewhere.
Posted by: LiveMusicFan | February 27, 2013 at 10:56 AM
Well shit. I just tried to hit BTR v2 and got smacked by the KC Star's Pay Wall. Not good.
Posted by: Sin City Disciple | February 27, 2013 at 12:07 PM
:( WELL.... DAMN IT!!
Fun is best had with others, and if you guys cant post there, then what fun is that??!!!
ARE YOU LISTENING BTR DUDES!!!
Why cant you do both sites, keep us ALL happy, come on man!
I actually figured out how to make the new thing go, but I dont wanna play with just myself, I want these other guys there too.... or here.... or maybe that Geordan guy will start his own site and let us post there.... or something.
Posted by: DT | February 27, 2013 at 02:58 PM
Got right in and posted.
Just had to put in user name and email. I hope everybody heads that way as BTR folks are great!
Posted by: RogerWilco | February 27, 2013 at 04:28 PM
What does "It also makes it easier for those who are interested in behind-the-scenes data and numbers" mean?? What is he referencing here?
Posted by: Country Jesus | February 27, 2013 at 09:44 PM
Bummer. Like switching from vinyl to cd.

"Got right in and posted.

I must be dense as I don't even see this option over there.
Posted by: pellboy | February 28, 2013 at 07:52 AM
pb, at home I use chrome and the page works fine, at work I used ie8 and it had compatibility issues.
Posted by: gsp | February 28, 2013 at 12:47 PM
That's probably my issue then. I'll have to check from my home computer tonight. Unfortunately, don't get on near as often at home so (much better to get paid to surf the net :) ) so my BTR involvement will decrease substantially.
Posted by: pellboy | February 28, 2013 at 02:06 PM
you might check if ie9 works, if the IT gurus let you do such things.
Posted by: gsp | February 28, 2013 at 03:19 PM
I usually dont give one sht when some whiners leave (like when that whiner Geordan left)(he was always a sissy anyway) BUT losing Pellboy, because his computer wont work is a deep loss to BTR. Pellboy was/is probably BTR's best member.
Is there any way BTR can keep 2 websites?
AT THE VERY LEAST The Star SHOULD test their damned new system using many many browsers, both old and new, to make sure they all work.
I used to not be able to post comments on The Star website, but to my surprise now it does work with my newer browser.
Posted by: Roger | February 28, 2013 at 04:39 PM
anyone have a fix for how to check when new comments are entered? Would rss feed take care of that?
Posted by: gsp | February 28, 2013 at 05:20 PM
I agree...even though I visit BTR for Tim's initial content, the comments, and the people who make them are what makes BTR such a special place--please figure out a way to have the new site work with ALL computers and browsers and some way for us to see that comments have been posted, how many, and by whom. Otherwise, I predict readership will go way down. Just sayin'.

I've found that you have to have a pay account to access KC Star's website now. I get a newspaper daily so, it may be free access for those who get a print newspaper.

Let it go, Let it go, this old world that I know, cause everything is going to be changing.
Posted by: Kurt | March 01, 2013 at 07:38 AM
Heck, I have a print subscription and signed up for the digital access and STILL for some reason can't get the comments section to load up from work. This sucks, Star! Still haven't tried from home yet so there is still hope I guess.

You created some decent points there. I looked on the web for the concern and located most individuals will go together with with your webpage.
